This summary report is going to discuss my impression about the N307 professional communication course. In this course I learned many of new things which can help me in the real life. One of these benefits is writing curriculum vitae (CV) in professional way which can effect when applied for a current job. Also, I learned how to make cover letter to strengthen my CV to show more seriousness toward job. Another point develop my life skill is interview. Teaching us how to be interviewed for job was great thing to know how questions from interviewer will be and how to answer in the best way to give them excellent reflection about your abilities. Moreover, practice on team meeting was a good thing to be familiar with group meeting and how can be prepared for this process by agenda and member roles.
However, the most parts of the course I liked were practice for presentation and how to make engineering reference (IEEE). Practice for presentation was thing actually new for me because Mr. Gregory asked us to make video tape about our practice and that will show us how our presenting was and our mistakes in more effective way than only give comments on paper or by speaking only. It works very well to see ourselves again to be in audience place and know how the audience will judge on us. The reference part was also so benefit for me because I studying civil engineering and it was excellent to learn IEEE citation style. Learning this style will effect on other courses because engineers always required to write reports in technical way related to engineering specifications.
In general, I think that I learned many new thing in this course especially which can help in other courses and in my life. I like this course because I found that we learn something rather than only focus on grades. In addition, information we got from this course maybe it will remain with us for whole life because it depends on learning with understanding of material more than memorizing to do well for exams only.
